CAREER POSTING: TECHNICAL TEAM LEAD (SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT)

Headplay, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with offices in Beijing, China and Bridgetown, Barbados, is a pioneer in the development of unique optical and video-processing technologies that enrich the experience of viewing digital media in both 2-D and 3-D formats.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Working in our Calgary office, the Technical Team Lead will be a key member of Headplay’s software development department, providing ongoing mentorship, support and leadership to project teams in conjunction with completion of hands-on development work.

RESPONSIBILTIES
You will provide supervision and coaching to team members, using a “leading-by-doing” approach. You will work alongside developers, facilitating team scrums and liaising with Project Managers to provide status reports and address obstacles encountered.  As a developer, you will apply your considerable experience to all steps of the development process from identifying requirements through to generating and designing technical solutions as well as writing, testing and debugging code.

EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES and KNOWLEDGE
Your formal education includes a recognized degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics or a similar discipline. You have at least four years of experience leading technical development projects, ideally in a video-processing environment.

Technical requirements include
•    Significant experience with C++ and other high-level programming languages
•    Adept at working with Visual Studio
•    Understanding of formal software development processes
•    Agile process knowledge and experience

The ideal candidate will also be familiar with DirectShow, USB technology, MPEG 4, and Streaming Video (RTP/RTSP) technologies.
