Hmm... OK What transmitter/reviver collaboration are you using?
I'm using:

DPCAV 500mw 900mhz TX
DPCAV 900mhz RX

I'm going to try the PAL firmware for the heck of it to see what happens.

Let me know how that works.

Posted in general.
Is it the lens inside the optics package or is it the protective shield?

It is the protective shield.

I would recommend you contact support and get a new visor if you are still under warranty. Too many thing could go wrong if you tried to fix it yourself.

Dear Heducation,
I live in Turkey and the shipment costed me 70 USD (from futurehobbies).
I can not pay an extra 70 USD to return to service and 70 USD shipment back to me.

As i explained in my email, i opened it carefully and tried to stick this shield back to its location.
I used regular CA and i can not explain how quickly this shield melt down.
I need a spare pair of lens shields and still waiting for an information from you how to get these (I thought you were the producer of this product, i was really surprised when you said you do not keep any spare parts)

Awaiting for your help to get a pair of these cheap lens shields to get back to fly FPV asap please.

Hi headucation,

I'm searching for a goggles to fly on FPV. In my searchs i'm found HeadPlay and seems the good choice... BUT i'm really worried about freeze's and slow motion's issues.

My question is: Are there a prevision to solve this isssues?

Thanks a lot...

This 3D camera http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1133309 would probably be a great matchup with the Headplay goggles, becuase I belive the liberator can multiply the refresh rate to eliminate flicker from 60Hz 3D video.  unfortunately the Headplay visor doesn't offer a 3D mode for composite video inputs.  Headplay guys, if it's possible to add a 3D composite video mode via firmware update, a flicker free 3D solution for FPV would be a nice plus.

From what I understand, the cameras and board output video in field-sequential left-right image format, so it's tha same concept as the 3D mode for VGA.

i have a NTSC and PAL camera.

for me PAL or NTSC wouldn't work properly with 1.18. i would get an horrible lag (2fps, or maybe its more like 0.2fps)
latest firmware don't work either (1.21w)
only the PAL FIX 50HZ (1.21a) works, and it works perfectly

i would like however to have the hd and wireless features. can't you port the fix to newer firmwares (?!!)

I'm sorry to open this thread again, unfortunately, I've also met the 5 fps problem, exactly as described a few postst above. Yesterday I was flying with TV_mode_50hz_625_lines - after first higher noise in distance I've got 5fps and I had to emergency landing. So I've tried the TV_mode_60hz_525_lines today, unfortunately, it's exactly the same (and maybe a litte worse - but maybe only because I've met more interferences today).

I'm using KX-171 PAL camera, 1.3GHz video TX from RangeVideo and 1.3GHz video RX from ElectronicaRC.

5 FPS mode came back to normal only by getting back to Media menu and selecting Composite input again. What's interesting to me, when I've got full frame rate, turn off and back on video transmitter, it didn't switch to 5fps mode. Only when I met some interferences during the flight...

Now I'm going to try old 1.18r firmware, but I'm not sure it will help...   Huh

UPDATE: I've tried also KX-191 PAL, it's exactly the same. Maybe it has something to do with receiver, not only the camera? I've tried all 3 firmwares, only old 1.18r looks working properly. I'm goint to try it in air... Must be a firmware issue, when 1.18r working and PAL wont, or not?

Is Headplay already dead or something?  Huh I've tried all combinations wih both KX191 and KX171 cameras, unfortunately, no firmware after 1.18 is working. Including both PAL fixes. Quite sad for $400 goggles...

Exactly the same problem!

None of two PAL-fixes work. After noise or signal loss I've got low fps video.

Just have installed the 1.18r firmware - tried it and it seems to be okay after signal loss but it looks like the image is not so smooth as it was in 1.21.

upd: I use KT&C VSN-700 camera with 550 tvl and PAL standard.

Regarding PAL fixes:
-50hz fix - if I switch PCS on and then cycle power off and on again - it seems to be okay for one or two video Tx disconnections. Snow is freezed while video tx is off. If I switch off video tx for the 3rd or 4th time - video is shown at lower fps, not 5 fps but 15 or 20 maybe.
-60 hz - it doesn't need to be switched off and on and it work well for 2 or 3 disconnections of video tx. The snow is moving while the video tx is switched off. Then it works  at lower fps like with 50hz fix.

So at this moment I can say that Headplay goggles are barely usable for FPV. I don't recommend to use them without backup screen - small TV or camcorder screen - you will need it while you reselect 'composite' in media menu in flight.

I was told that "fps freezing" problem with PAL cameras has a relatively simple solution - AV/CVBS to VGA converter. So we feed the liberator through VGA input and it works perfectly!

This converter costs around 30$
